Shrouk El-Attar is a neurodivergent British-Egyptian artist and creative technologist dedicated to decolonizing technology and fostering inclusivity in engineering. Based in the UK, Shrouk’s innovative work includes creating AI-driven belly dancing robots and teaching underrepresented groups how to build their own. Her passion for Egyptian dance, which she prefers to call “Egyptian Dance” instead of the inaccurate colonial term “Belly Dance,” informs her artistic practice.

Shrouk’s current projects involve integrating AI to recognise and respond to traditional Egyptian percussion sounds, enhancing audience interaction and engagement. By combining cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology, she aims to inspire and empower marginalised communities, particularly refugees and disabled individuals. Shrouk’s work has been featured in various exhibitions and she is excited to be part of national and international programs that support artistic innovation and accessibility.
