During the residency I was researching materials and ideas towards the making of a new single channel video work, which will retell British folklore stories from an Eastern European migrant’s viewpoint.
The planned film will take the form of a poetic video essay, developed upon an intuitive, elective and phenomenological structure. The video will exercise formats of fictional documentary and meta-documentary, blurring the line between documentary and fiction, fantasy and reality, archives and utopia – while bringing into focus ‘affective truths’ that include dreams, desires, memories and traumas.
Presented collage works act as a vision board for the scenes and costumes that will be included in the film, and are based on research materials gathered during the residency period.
